I'm a senior software engineer for the city of Orem. The main directive I've been given: "modernize us". This is my story.

Today was an exciting day for me as I started a new project for development services. My task is to create a development planning application submission portal, and I spent most of the day scoping out the project. I learned that there are 21 different forms required for various kinds of development, and while most of the forms are similar, there are some checklists and informational areas that are different.

I was pleased to discover that the planning people I met were all very nice and helpful. They provided me with the necessary documents, which have signatures that will need to be incorporated into the application. I know that this aspect of the project will require some careful consideration to ensure that I find a cost-effective way to get it done.

Despite these challenges, I'm feeling excited about cutting my teeth on something new. As a developer, I always look forward to new projects, and this one presents an exciting opportunity to create something useful for the community.

In summary, my day was productive and exciting as I started work on a new development project. While there are challenges to overcome, I'm confident that with careful planning and hard work, I'll be able to deliver a high-quality submission portal that meets the needs of both the planning people and the community.
